Protecting the environment, caring for your health, urban congestion, economic savings, having fun… there’s numerous reasons for using a bicycle as a primary source of transportation. But one reason stands out for David Howell, the author of The Descent into Happiness, is the development of one’s thought process. Howell, a professor of creEtive thinking at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, will present on how bicycle commuting—and bike touring—serves as a vehicle for mindfulness.
About David: David Howell is a Consultant for Epiphany Consulting LLC. He is also the author of The Descent into Happiness—a book about mindful cycling—and a Professor in the Humanities Department at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He teaches courses in creative thinking, ethics, composition, and research methods. He received an M.F.A. in poetry from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and an Individual Interdisciplinary Ph.D. from Washington State University. When he’s not teaching, reading or writing, he’s riding one of his bikes.
He lives in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin with his wife, dog, and cats.
